A/ - Well, for a start, using a D & B Contractor to project manage your office move and fit-out is a bit like putting a fox in charge of the hen-house! They will naturally want to look after their best interests first rather than yours!

Also, when it comes to controlling escalating costs on a project, who would you rather have in your corner? Someone who's only priority is to drive down costs on your behalf or a D & B Contractor hell-bent on getting as much money as they can out of each `extra'! These `extras' can often work out at 30%, 40%, or more of the original `fixed' contract sum if you're not careful!

Q/ - But aren't your fees just another layer of `management charges' on top of the contractor's and suppliers' costs that would be better spent elsewhere in the project?
A/ - On the contrary, a good relocation and fit-out manager would expect to save their clients many times their very modest fees. Firstly, the true cost to the business of diverting important members of staff, and even the bosses in many cases, away from their primary function of making profits for the business is all too often overlooked. "We took our eye off the ball that's why the figures are down!"

Secondly, unless you happen to have 30-odd years experience and specialist knowledge of the interior fit out and refurbishment industry, starting such a complex project without expert help is a bit like setting off across a minefield blindfolded - you just don't know where the hazards are until you step on them!
